Description:
The rolling twist of cables is a timeless design in knitwear. Learning how to use cables in your own knitted projects will elevate your hand knits and, quite frankly, make you look like a knitting wizard. Btrittney Lockridge of BrittyRaeKnits will guide you through the twists and turns of cable knitting so that you can feel confident in your future cabling endeavors. We will learn different cable patterns and each participant will receive their own set of cable needles.
Bring with you:
Participants will need to bring yarn to work with in a DK, worsted, or bulky weight. Anything thinner will be harder to learn on at the beginning of your cabling journey. Cables look best with
tonal or solid color yarn. Avoid bringing multicolored or variegated yarn and super dark colors because it will be harder to see the stitch pattern as you learn. Bring appropriate needles for the yarn you will be using.
Max: 8 students
Class Fee: $40
This class will cost $35, with an additional material fee of $5 (cable needles), for a total cost of $40.

Description: Instructor Kelly Shively returns this year to guide you down the rabbit hole of spindle spinning. Altho all types of spindles are welcome, the emphasis in this class will be on the Turkish Drop Spindle. Students should have their own spindles when they come to class. There will be a few on hand to loan, but it would be better if each student had their own. Students will learn how to draft and spin on a drop spindle. Use of a distaff for roving will be covered also, as well as the Ply on the Fly method exclusively used on the Turkish Spindle.
The drop spindle is a really inexpensive way to break into the world of spinning your own yarn. Come on! You know you want to try! See you there!
Rovings will be on hand for purchase, but you are welcome to bring your own fibers, as long as they are medium wools (best for beginners) such as BFL, romney, etc.
